The Behavioural and Evolutionary Ecology Research (BEER) Group is situated within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Tasmania. It is comprised of a diverse range of researchers and postgraduate students who focus broadly on understanding how behaviour enables animals to address the challenges put forward by their environment and the consequences of this for evolutionary change. Within this remit, the BEER group addresses several key research themes including:
- The evolution of family living
- Sex allocation and determination
- Maternal effects
- Invasion biology
- Life history
- Chemical communication
To do this, we use a range of different study species and employ a variety of methods including long term field data and large-scale experimental approaches, as well as theoretical, comparative and molecular approaches. Additions to the BEER group are always welcome.
